- You do not know needed platform capabilities initially, so start small and validate pain points and opportunities. Too often there’s a “if we build it they will come approach”.

- Decide between what capabilities are mandated and what capabilities are optional - there are very different modes of engagement and the platform will develop very differently depending on what is the choice here.

- Make sure you bring your customers along with the journey. You can’t build a product for your customers in isolation.
